Shannon Jones and his mates, Billo and Coops, set off into the Gibson Desert after receiving a mysterious, encrypted USB from an old prospector. Using a solar-powered workstation, Shannon cracked the code and uncovered GPS coordinates leading them to a dingo-shaped rock with ancient carvings and hidden binary code. Following clues, they unearthed a buried signal beacon and discovered an abandoned Cold War-era outpost filled with tech relics and a cryptic message. In September 2011, Shannon Jones and his mates Billo and Coops ventured into South Australia’s Outback in search of the lost Mount Boppy gold mine. After Coop’s phone lost signal, Shannon crafted a makeshift antenna from a hubcap and foil to restore GPS. As they trekked through a narrow gully, they were ambushed by massive tarantulas and narrowly escaped. Just beyond the gully, they discovered the entrance to the mine—only to realize they’d forgotten their flashlights. Forced to turn back, they retrieved the torches from the ute, vowing to return and finish the adventure—properly prepared next time.
